Moreno Valley has established a first-rate law enforcement program. The City of Moreno Valley contracts police services from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Our Award-Winning Policing Programs

The Moreno Valley Police Traffic Team has been recognized both at the state and national level for its innovative traffic programs. The Traffic Team is always looking for new ways to keep our roadways safe for the motoring public. We focus our efforts on establishing programs that include Speed Awareness, Occupant Protection and DUI Enforcement. Some of these programs include:

• School Zone Enforcement

• Pedestrian Decoy Operation (Santa in Crosswalk)
• Radar Trailer / Speed Program
• School Presentations on the use of Bicycle Helmets, Pedestrian Safety, Drinking and Driving, etc.
• "Click It or Ticket" Campaign (Seat Belt Enforcement)
• Car Seat / Child Restraint Inspections

• Saturation Patrols
• DUI Warrant Sweeps
• Operation Free PASS

• The Photo Red Light Enforcement Program will be starting Saturday, March 1.  Our first and only location at this time is Frederick/ Centerpoint.  There is a 30-day warning period.  Motorists who run the red light will only receive a warning letter through March 30th.  Starting March 31st, motorists who run the red light will receive a citation in the mail.

  The Moreno Valley Police Department has a direct line for reporting non-emergency incidents. This staffed twenty-four number helps our dispatchers more effectively assign police officers and keeps the 911 system free for emergency calls.  These incidents include, but are not limited to:
  - Fireworks
  - Large Parties
  - Loud Music
  - Barking Dogs
• Mobile 911 within City Limits: 951.684.0911
  Persons within city limits who wish to reach 911 from their cell phone may chose to dial 951.684.0911. This number will give the caller a direct line to Moreno Valley Police Department dispatch.
  
  If a caller dials 911 from a cell phone, they will receive the California Highway Patrol dispatch. Matters involving incidents on the State Highways or Freeways fall under the jurisdiction of the CHP.
  Matters within city limits, fall in the jurisdiction of the Moreno Valley Police Department.

False Alarms

A citizen who wants to appeal the validity of a false alarm determination by the police or fire department may appeal to the appropriate appeal officer or designee. The appeal must be in writing and must be requested within ten (10) days of the alarm user having received a notice of the false alarm.
