City to Receive Federal Funding for Code Enforcement ActivitiesThe City of Moreno Valley received notification from the office of Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack that it will receive $106,000 in federal funds to enhance code enforcement efforts in the community. The funds will be issued through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants (Byrne-JAG) Program, the primary provider of federal criminal justice funding to state and local jurisdictions. The City will use the funds to hire part-time staff in the Code and Neighborhood Services Division, targeting code violations such as neighborhood trash receptacle scavenging, unlicensed vendors, illegal automobile sales, and illegal commercial vehicle parking. Regarding the federal funding, Mayor Richard A. Stewart stated, “The residents of Moreno Valley have Congresswoman Bono Mack to thank for her continued support of the full funding of the Byrne-JAG program. Particularly in these times when cities across the nation are struggling to provide quality services in spite of shrinking budgets, these federal funds are much appreciated.” For further information, contact Michelle Dawson of the City Manager’s Office at 413.3053. # # # |
