Planning Commission to consider Zoning Consistency

On August 24, 2006, the Moreno Valley Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing to consider changes to the city’s Zoning Map and Municipal Code that will implement the city’s General Plan. On July 11, 2006, the City Council approved a comprehensive update to the General Plan. In order to implement the updated General Plan, changes to the city’s Zoning Map and Municipal Code are necessary; this process is known as “Zoning Consistency.”

The Zoning Consistency will include modifications to the city’s Zoning Map to reflect land use changes that were made with the adoption of the General Plan. Additionally, a Medical Use Overlay is recommended to be established around the city’s two hospitals. This will provide areas to support future land use needs of these medical facilities.

The Planning Commission hearing will be held in the city’s Council Chamber at 7:00 p.m. on August 24, 2006.
