City to conduct emergency operations drillThe City of Moreno Valley will conduct a full-scale eight-hour emergency operations drill 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2004. As with other, previous emergency operations drills, objectives of the upcoming exercise are to test the set up and operations of the city’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and to evaluate the response and communication flow among multiple agencies to a major citywide disaster. “Certain key staff members are assigned specific duties in the city’s emergency operations center, but in a real disaster any and all city employees may be called upon to do everything from assisting with the general management and function of the EOC to the sheltering of displaced citizens. Agencies that could be affected by or have a major role to play in a disaster need to practice how they would work together so everyone knows what to do in case tragedy strikes,” Coletta said. Residents may see some of emergency drill activity taking place in certain areas of the city and should not be alarmed. For more information, please contact Moreno Valley’s Volunteer/Disaster Services office at 413.3800 or Media and Communications at 413.3053. |
